Maybe so, but if Busdriver has any alternative to offer, it's virtually impossible to tell what it is, as the over-caffeinated rap style that was effective on albums like 2004's 'Cosmic Cleavage' has now spiralled off into its own universe, his garbled faux-operatic flow delivered at such a pace that any linguistic dexterity is lost. Art rap at the start of the latter, a warning that could be extended to the album as a whole. With vocal treatments further muddying legibility, Busdriver has abandoned the pretence that enjoyment has anything to do with his art, which is a drawback for entertainment, and fatal for a form also notionally fulfilling a journalistic function. The Weather is a collaborative studio album by Busdriver & Radioinactive with Daedelus. It was released on Mush Records on February 18, 2003. Daedelus released a reworking instrumental version of the album, titled Rethinking the Weather, on Mush Records on June 10, 2003. Julianne Shepherd of Pitchfork praised the album, writing, The Weather is smart but not pretentious, skeptical but not misanthropic, and it proves avant-hiphop doesn't have to be avant-crappy. Meanwhile, Fredrick Thomas of Stylus. Busdriver, whose birth name is Regan Farquhar, is an underground MC hailing from Los Angeles. He is known for his rapid-fire, jazzy, free-association style of hip-hop. Some listeners consider Busdriver to be an abstract rapper. His rhymes sometimes border on dadaist and even pure nonsense, but there is almost always a concrete message amongst his fast-paced, seemingly stream of conciousness rhymes. An interesting thing that sets Busdriver somewhat apart from other rappers is how he raps to the melody in addition to the beat on some songs. Sites .
