Seattle folk-rock artisans the Head and the Heart have always been admirably honest about their rustic notions of musicality, celebrating uncluttered craft, homey detail and vérité revelation. You can still hear it on their third LP drawn to that sorta library magic, they sing beautifully over an acoustic weave. Yet Signs of Light also sees them beef up their sound with sweeping rock guitars and radio-aware production that can sometimes feel overblown see the Mumford-size stomp of the title track. Composed primarily of transplants to the Seattle area, The Head and the Heart write and play songs that speak to the newness of a fresh start, of the ghosts left behind, of moving forward, all brimming with a soulfulness and hope for a better life than the one we've all been sold. And while acoustic instruments dominated the Head and the Heart's early recordings, Signs of Light is awash in keyboards and samples, shifting the group's musical personality into an entirely different direction. Signs of Light fulfils the aim the bands handle appears to indicate. This is after all, music that connects with the head and the heart, and imparts a dual sense of resilience and delight in its wake. Read full review. The execution is inarguably impressive, but the Head and the Heart have made much better music with simpler technique, and Signs of Light is the sort of album that confirms a fan's worst fears about an indie act signing with a corporate label

What is the difference about release 9362491820 and 9023264? One of them is ALSO Not on Label?
Good sound quality but very quiet. Probably could've benefited from a 2xLP release.
I got a sealed copy and it's SO crackly throughout, both sides. Is yours like that too?? I agree on the 'very quiet' observation; I had to turn it up quite a bit.
